    Judge Comment: A great immigrant story that tells Canadians about how newcomers are reshaping small communities -- for the better.
  • Place Name: Third Place
    Contestant Name: Powell River Peak (Powell River, BC)
    Entry Title: Call leads to qathet author finding charming predator
    Entry Credit: Paul Galinski
    Judge Comment: A mystery feature that begs lots of questions, but great storytelling nonetheless
  • Competition Comment: The stories were a lot more compelling than I had anticipated and hence the judging much more competitive. That said, Baby Doe was by far the winner.
