At mine opening, Inuit negotiators reflect on the past
Entry Credit:
Cedric Gallant
Judge Comment:
This business story about a nickel mine includes the context of how the mine came to be, and the negotions between the Inuit community and the mining company thar brought it about. The story places the mine opening in the larger scale of indigenous resource development.

Entry Credit:
Jeff Pelletier
Judge Comment:
It was enjoyable to read this article on a Canadian company opening its northernmost location in Iqaluit. It touches on the unique challenges of setting up a business in the North.
Competition Comment:
Overall there were some very good entries in this category. The best entries don't just tell the story of one business event--an opening, a milestone, a change of ownership--they tell the story in the larger context of the forces that are creating or limiting business opportunities and that are changing society. There were many excellent entries, but some journalists could have benefitted from more space to tell more of the story.
