  • Place Name: First Place
Contestant Name: Voice of Pelham (Pelham, ON)
Entry Title: The Saga of Mountain Grove
    Entry Credit: John Swart
Judge Comment: Swart is like a friend at a bar, telling his tale of his latest ride. But it's not just the ride we hear about - Swart gives us insight into the world of COVID, development and history with gentle humour and an interesting story which has you hooked until the end.
  • Place Name: Second Place
Contestant Name: The Eastern Graphic (Montague, PE)
    Entry Title: Against the Tide
    Entry Credit: Paul MacNeill
Judge Comment: Paul MacNeill is not afraid to call a spade a spade. MacNeill knows his island and he dissects the political hijinks with facts and fury. Well done.
  • Place Name: Third Place
Contestant Name: River Valley Sun (Perth-Andover/Woodstock, NB)
Entry Title: Jim Dumville - My Thoughts Exactly - River Valley Sun
    Entry Credit: Jim Dumville
Judge Comment: Jim Dumville's folksy style leads the reader through important subjects and our reaction to them. He's bold when he needs to be and gentle when necessary. Overall, a very good read.
  • Competition Comment: It was wonderful to see the wide breadth of writing in this column, however it also created some problems for judging since often there was not a strong opinion present, even when the column was interesting. I'd urge columnists to be bold and let their opinions flow - you and your readers will be happy you did!
