There were some excellent images from all entries into the Photo Essay category this year. Those who were selected as our winners were photographers who were able to tell more of the story of the event, rather than just gather a series of images from a particular event. It's important to keep in mind that entries into this category need to tell as full a story using a range of techniques, lenses and messages.
While there are great images from each entry, it's okay to understand that not every event has enough elements to make a good photo essay. Some simple events just present a couple strong visuals and there's little opportunity to create an essay just by including more images.
