Judge Comment:
Bikes, Haida sculpture, chicken wire - it's all there! Photos accompanying the stories are terrific. Strong, interesting writing here. One question that never got answered (only regular readers would know, perhaps) - WHO was Flyin' Phil St. Luke, and why is it important he be memorialized?
Great arts writing. These stories felt close and intimate to the community, which was communicated well in the way they were written.
Competition Comment:
It's so wonderful to see that arts communities across the country are not only surviving but thriving. There is little out there that can keep the artistic spirit down, and all of these writers were intent on telling the stories of the great projects happening where they live and write.
